Assistant Catering Manager

Location: Lake District, Cumbria, 
Salary: £29,000-£31,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Assistant Catering Manager to join a brand-new catering operation and leisure facility within the Lake District. 

This is a permanent, full-time position offering the chance to support the launch and growth of a unique multi-outlet catering operation within one of the Lake District's most popular family attractions.

This role would suit an experienced Catering Supervisor looking to take their first step into management or an existing Assistant Manager seeking a fresh challenge in a fun, fast-paced environment.

The Role

You will support the Catering Manager in overseeing all catering operations across the park, helping to deliver a delicious and unique food offering alongside an exceptional guest experience.

The catering operation will launch across three phases and will include a grab & go kiosk, a sit-down café, and a restaurant within the main building.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the day-to-day management of multiple catering outlets
  • Supervising and coordinating team members during busy service periods
  • Assisting with food preparation and service delivery
  • Delivering a consistently high standard of customer service
  • Supporting stock control, ordering, and inventory management
  • Assisting with the training and development of team members
  • Maintaining food safety, hygiene, and operational standards
  • Supporting the delivery of a unique and memorable visitor experience
  • Ensuring smooth day-to-day operations across all catering areas

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of 1 year's experience within a high-volume catering environment
  • Previous experience supervising or leading a team
  • Strong customer service skills and a guest-focused approach
  • Familiarity with stock control procedures
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding of food preparation and food hygiene standards
  • A proactive, hands-on approach to leadership

Desirable

  • Basic cooking experience
  • Customer service qualifications
  • First Aid qualification
  • Food Hygiene qualification
