This isn’t your everyday chef job. You’ll be crafting high-volume, high-quality dishes for up to 1,500 personnel a day, all while working in an environment few ever get to experience: a Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier, travelling the world as part of an elite culinary team.

The Role
You’ll work on board a Royal Navy HMS Aircraft Carrier, delivering 24-hour catering services to Naval personnel. You’ll be part of a tight-knit culinary team, producing everything from fresh bread and pastries to full meal services in a high-volume, high-standard environment. The shift patterns are as follows:

8-hour shifts covering morning, day or night shifts, supporting 24-hour round-the-clock operations

Max 6 working days per week and you'll receive extra compensatory rest days

Training & Requirements
Once successful, you’ll complete a paid two-week culinary induction course to sharpen your skills. You’ll also need to undertake:

ENG1 Medical – fully reimbursed (usually under £100).

Sea Survival Test – swimming + platform jump (locations: Portsmouth or Plymouth).

Security Clearance – includes a DBS check. Minor or past offences won’t automatically rule you out; all cases are reviewed individually.
All training and checks are paid for by NAAFI. Security clearance timelines vary from 2 weeks to 6 months, depending on the individual.
