The Role
As a Chef de Partie, you'll be part of a dedicated culinary team delivering round-the-clock catering services aboard a Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and delivering high-quality meals at scale
- Producing fresh breads, pastries and baked goods
- Supporting daily meal services for up to 1,500 personnel
- Maintaining exceptional food safety and hygiene standards
- Contributing to a collaborative and professional kitchen environment
Shift Pattern
- 8-hour shifts covering morning, daytime and overnight operations
- Catering services operate 24 hours a day
- Maximum of 6 working days per week
- Additional compensatory rest days provided
Life at Sea
Life aboard an aircraft carrier is unlike anything you'll experience on land.
Deployments can range from a few weeks to several months, offering the chance to visit destinations across the world while developing your career in a truly unique environment.

Training & Onboarding
Successful candidates will complete a fully paid two-week culinary induction programme before deployment.
You will also undertake:
ENG1 Medical Examination
- Fully reimbursed by NAAFI
Sea Survival Training
- Swimming assessment and platform jump
- Conducted in Portsmouth or Plymouth
Security Clearance
- Includes DBS checks
- Previous or minor offences do not automatically exclude applicants
- Each application is assessed individually
All training, assessments and associated costs are covered by NAAFI.
Security clearance can take anywhere between 2 weeks and 6 months depending on individual circumstances.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' professional chef experience
- Strong pastry and baking skills
- Valid Food Hygiene Certificate
- British Passport
- Positive, can-do attitude and strong work ethic
Desirable
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience working within high-volume catering environments
