Head Chef - Powys

Location: Mid Wales, UK
Salary: £50,000–£55,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Fixed Term until February 2026
Hours: Full-time with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Accommodation: Free shared on-site accommodation provided

 

Are you a talented and versatile head chef with 2 Rosette-level experience, looking for a unique dual role that blends private service with a public-facing kitchen? We are seeking an accomplished individual to lead culinary operations at both a prestigious private estate and a well-regarded local pub under the same ownership. This is a fixed-term role until February 2026, with strong potential for a permanent position.

Our private estate in Mid Wales is known for refined service, exceptional hospitality, and a discreet setting for distinguished guests. In addition, we operate a respected country pub, offering elevated seasonal cuisine to the local community. This dual role offers the rare chance to apply your culinary expertise in both fine dining and high-end casual dining settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute refined menus for private estate guests, tailored to individual preferences

  • Lead kitchen operations at a local pub, delivering seasonal, high-quality dishes to a consistent standard

  • Maintain exceptional hygiene and presentation standards in both settings

  • Manage stock, suppliers, budgets, and a small team of kitchen staff

  • Uphold standards of service expected at 2 Rosette level or above

  • Balance high-pressure service with calm, efficient leadership

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a head chef in both private dining and public hospitality environments
  • Background in 2 Rosette (or higher) kitchens is essential
  • Strong leadership, creativity, and time management skills
  • Ability to switch between bespoke private service and high-quality pub dining
  • Full UK driving licence preferred due to rural location
  • Discreet, professional demeanour with a passion for food and guest satisfaction
